DNA testing services are now offered to Winnipeggers and Academy Road shoppers don't have to go far. DNA Testing Centre of Canada offers a variety of DNA tests for the public. They can test what diseases you are prone to, such as Alzheimer’s, diabetes, heart disease, or breast cancer, and then personalize nutritional and lifestyle choices to help you either prevent these diseases, or control them better.
After completing a history questionnaire and submitting a DNA sample, "the samples are sent to our laboratory for processing," explains Debbie, office manager. "We have created a very comfortable and confidential environment in our Academy location."

The centre also offers a number of other DNA testing services:
• DNA paternity testing that is 99.99% accurate, is a quick and affordable means for providing indisputable answers, all handled professionally and with absolute confidentiality.
• A DNA Child-ID Kit allows parents to store definitive identification markers such as DNA profile of the child or adult, a complete set of digital or ink fingerprints, a complete description of the individual with pertinent medical information including allergies and medical conditions. The kit gives investigators the necessary information to hit the ground running, should the unthinkable ever happen.
• An allergy test can be done to screen for an allergy to a specific substance or substances when a patient experiences acute or chronic allergy-like symptoms. The allergy test allows a quantitative method to identify an individual’s allergic reaction to a specific range of the most common allergens.

• Lipo Dissolve is a non surgical alternative to liposuction. The main ingredient in Lipodissolve is phosphatidylcholine, a natural product found in our body. It's main role in the body is to help emulsify and breakdown fat and cholesterol. It uses the body's own natural methods of excreting fat to permanently reduce fat deposits. It is especially effective for the treatment of problem areas that may not be eliminated with diet and exercise alone. The most common areas that are treated are: abdominal bulges, love handles, back fat, saddle bags, thighs (inner and outer), side of buttocks, lower buttocks, arms, and double chins, cheeks and jowels.

• Botox therapy usually involves a series of small injections of a safe and effective purified protein that relaxes underlying muscle tissue. Botox can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and creases. Because it is a muscle relaxant, Botox has even been used in the past to treat migraines, sweating and muscle spasms.

• Treatment with Perlane or Restylane can allow patients to fill in fine wrinkles and creases or to flesh out lips. The procedure takes only minutes and the results will typically last from four to twelve months, depending on the individual and the area treated. Injections of this natural chemical can make lips fuller and skin finer, with fewer wrinkles. Because the injections are made with a chemical found in the body they are very safe and the results are both instant and long-lasting.
