"Don't
ask yourself what the world needs- ask yourself what makes you

Coach
Approach
March
2005
Here
on the Canadian prairies we are starting to feel spring around
the corner. Longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures turn
our thoughts once again to renewal as we patiently or not so patiently
await the awakening.
Gardeners
are ordering their seeds and bulbs, planning the planting and
landscaping in their mind's eye. Fishing enthusiasts are dreaming
of relaxing in their boats, casting and the -oh so glorious- catch.
Golfers are cleaning their clubs and getting ready for spring
lessons. Outdoor enthusiasts are dreaming of putting away their
skis and unfurling their boats from their winter's rest.
Whatever
your interest, spring is a time of renewal. Hope arises anew as
the physical world wakes up from its winter rest. In this issue
of Coach Approach I offer, with permission, an article by Adela
Rubio, a Holistic Health Coach. She offers some great tips for
connecting to your Energizing Essence:
1.
Clear the clutter and things you no longer use. Don't make this
ANOTHER project. Slow and steady wins the race. Just plan on clearing
your desk, a drawer or getting rid of some books. Throw out papers,
magazines and articles you've been holding onto. If you haven't
used it in the past month, chuck it. Go through your closets and
get rid of anything you don't look fabulous in. If you don't feel
great in it, it's time has come. Donate to your favorite charitable
organization and get a receipt for it. It's tax deductible!
2. Get moving. I don't care what you do, so long as it feels good
and it's not a chore. Walking on a treadmill is not for everyone.
Go for walks in the park or if the weather isn't up to snuff go
to a museum. Dance for 15 minutes or take time in the morning
to do 3 sun salutations. Movement facilitates the delivery of
oxygen to your cells -- you'll liven up with some activity. Start
moderately and consider your current physical condition.
3. Breathe! I mean aside from the breathing required for staying
on the planet. Many of the yoga breathing exercises are excellent
for this. Increased oxygen means increased energy. Think about
it -- how long can you live without breath? Minutes? That's right,
this is the most important nutrient to our system. Just tune into
your breathing and notice if it's shallow and surface. Deepen
it, slow it down, take your time. It's the elixir of life.
4. Laugh -- a Lot! Watch a funny movie and notice your energy
level and your body. Your voice lifts, so does your expression,
the chest area opens up and the body leans forward. Your energy
is more accessible and you feel lighter. Remember the last time
you received a funny email from a friend and how wonderful you
felt afterward. Bet you forwarded that email!
5. Fill your moments with meaning. What is that for you? I love
to connect so I post on forums a lot and write articles. I love
to read so bookstores and libraries are some of my favorite places.
I also love to dance so I put on some music in between calls and
shake my hips. Make time to include the things that bring you
joy.
6. What's new and good? Notice and journal on what's working.
Often we focus on our problems and the things that need fixing.
Notice how there's always more of that? However, when we focus
on all the miracles that occur throughout our waking moments our
lives shift and we are more in flow. Things seem more effortless
and riding the
wave becomes the norm.
Everything is Energy! Start tapping into what feeds your energy
and begin to make choices around the things that drain your energy.
Shift your focus to what juices you up and you'll have energy
on tap to fuel the life you envision!

In
addition here are a few tips from Benita to prepare you to ?Spring
Into Action? no matter what the weather:
Re-visit your personal vision statement. (or develop one if you
have not already done so) Does it still pull you forward? Fill
you with excitement? Let your Personal Vision statement extend
an invitation once more to greater realization and fulfillment.
Change up your daily routine in a few small ways. Study a subject
you know nothing or very little about, expand your mind with a
few minutes a day of reading. Take a different route home from
work. Take up a new physical activity or sport.
