JUNE 2008 NEWSLETTER

KEEPING YOU UP-TO-DATE WITH THE PTSD

As always, we are proud to showcase the accomplishments and activities of our international students.

HERE ARE SOME OF THIS YEAR'S HIGHLIGHTS:

Corrina and Jordan were both heavily involved in music and choir.  Both recently participated in the Rocky Mountain Music Festival and were also selected for the 2007 Manitoba Senior Honor Band.

Raul, Fernando and Guilherme were selected for the outdoor soccer team at Oak Park.  The Oak Park Raiders Soccer team also won the provincial championship thanks to the dedication of Raul and Fernando.

Andrea and Rebecca exhibited strong humanitarian awareness by participating in the 30-hour famine at Oak Park.

Matheus displayed fine skills on the court  throughout the junior boys basketball season.

Tony and Hiroku have been active members of the school student council representing the school's international students.  They attended weekly meetings and were the voice behind the success of all international students at Oak Park.

Brave Leonie played rugby at Vincent Massey.

At Fort Richmond there are musicians abound.  Gary plays percussion in the school band and  Shane contributed his strong voice to the Mass and Jazz Choirs.  Shane and Quang Huy both volunteered in the library.  Yen Ting was a member of the Anime Club.  Takafumi participated in track and field and BinXiang was involved in student council, ice hockey, basketball and floor hockey.  Junho played indoor and outdoor soccer and Zhikun played intramural basketball.

One of our graduating students, Rebecca has contributed to our newsletter with an inspiring piece on her experience in the Pembina Trails School Division this year.

It seems yesterday, when I left Bologna 's airport to start this wonderful experience?almost ten months are already past, incredibly fast.

After all this time you get used to pretty much everything, every little difference that makes this place so particular at my eyes and it's difficult to think that it's almost over; I have to go back and change my habits again.

If I look back, I see all the moments that made me happy, changing and enriching me.

Starting from my ?Canadian family?, whom helped me since the beginning, accepting and loving me as part of their family, and are always there for me.

Then there are my friends, people that I learnt to know in just few months and became really important for me, sharing laughs, parties?the ones that lived and are living every single moment of this special adventure with me.

There is the school, with all the strangest activities, that make it a fun, enjoyable place; I really like how it's organized and how the atmosphere is warm and familiar, even between teachers and students.

I'm looking forward to graduate in here in June, because it will be another exciting experience that we don't have in Italy .

It's amazing for me to be able to live this extraordinary journey, and to call Winnipeg my ?second home?.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer!
