Dr. Arthur V. Mauro's Speech Impacts Audience

Over 500 people attended the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba's 35th Annual Luncheon and had the privilege of hearing Dr. Arthur Mauro speak on the topic "Winnipeg - The New Geneva: The Pursuit of Social Justice." Among the comments heard after the speech were, "I am totally blown away - that was fantastic!", "It was profound", and "It was an historic address - all of Winnipeg needs to hear this!" We Want To Have a Better World

The Jewish Foundation provided a special grant to Maple Leaf School for an art project based on the book, “Hannah’s Suitcase.” The students chose the name of a child who died in the Holocaust and designed a paper-mache suitcase for that child. "This project is one that will stay with the students for a lifetime," says Victor Kuzyk, principal of the North Kildonan School."We couldn't have accomplished this vision without the generous support of the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba." Meeting the Needs of the Community

A grant from the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba allowed the Asper Jewish Community Campus to undertake three very different, but very important, projects. These projects included: upgrades to the security of the building by redesigning the front entry security desk; a new efficient sukkah which will be available to both the Gray Academy and the community at large; and new mezzuzahs with kosher scrolls that will be installed on doorways of the Campus. "Make It Your Own...Make a Difference!"

Technology For The Future

The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba provided a grant to Ohr HaTorah Day School towards the purchase of two computers to be used by kindergarten students.

"Having two new computers has helped the students immensely," says Judy Rodkin, Principal at Ohr HaTorah Day School. "We are now able to connect to any website - and use them as a teaching tool. We are very grateful to the Jewish Foundation." Read more...

"Give Me Your Children"

Skye Kneller, a recent Grade 12 graduate from the Gray Academy was named as the 2009 recipient of the “Mina Rosner Human Rights Award,” with her winning essay “Give Me Your Children.” On the March of the Living tour, Skye learned that our voices are the most powerful tools for change that we possess. "I chose to write about the aspect of the Shoa that horrified me the most; the deaths of one and a half million children." Read more...
