Leonard M. Blankstein has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba and a diploma in Marketing and Sales from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He started his professional career with Kraft General Foods in Vancouver, B.C. and is currently a partner at Chess Communications, a Winnipeg advertising agency. He has been a member of the board of the Rady JCC for the past six years, and has been active as a volunteer with the United Way of Winnipeg. Leonard also serves on the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba Grants committee.
Marjorie Blankstein, C.M. was appointed to the Board of Directors as a representative of the Board of Governors. Marjorie received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Manitoba and her Masters in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. She has undertaken countless volunteer commitments both locally and nationally and has chaired capital campaigns for the Asper Jewish Community Campus and the United Way. Marjorie has received numerous honours and awards, including being recognized as a Member of the Order of Canada in 1982.
Cynthia Hiebert-Simkin is an associate lawyer with the firm of Taylor McCaffrey in Winnipeg and is chair of the Wills and Estates Practice Group. She joined the firm in December 1992 and was called to the Bar in 1993. Cynthia practices in the area of Wills, Estate Planning and Estate Administration. She is on the executive of the Canadian Bar Association National Wills, Trusts and Estates section and is on several committees at the Law Society of Manitoba. A frequent lecturer on will and estate planning issues, she taught "Wills and Succession" for two years at the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba.
Admitted to the Bar in 1985, Howard Morry is a partner with the law firm Pitblado LLP. Howard is an active volunteer and has served on numerous local, national and international Boards. During his term as President of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, he helped launch the Grow Winnipeg initiative. He has chaired various professional organizations, chaired and spoken at national conferences, been a contributing editor to several publications and has published papers and articles in the areas of taxation and estate planning. He is also the founding chair of the Canadian Association of Farm Advisors and a founding member and co-chair of the Arab Jewish Dialogue.
Originally from Burlington, Ontario, Michelle Weinberg received her Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree from Queen's University then began her Bay Street career on the trading floor of TD Securities. From there she moved to a privately held boutique investment dealer and was awarded a partnership in that firm, the youngest person to be named partner, and one of only five women. Michelle left the firm after nine years in order to join her husband in Winnipeg. Here, she has become an active volunteer with Manitoba Theatre Centre and various committees of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg and the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba.
Eric Winograd was born and raised in Winnipeg. He graduated from the University of Manitoba's School of Dentistry in 1976 and has been in private practice since. Eric was President of the Ramah Hebrew School Board, spending ten years on the Board of Jewish Education and serving as President during the schools’ transfer to Campus. An avid sports fan, he volunteered as hockey convener at River Heights Community Centre for five years. Eric has served on the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba Scholarship committee for the past ten years, including three years as the committee Chair.
