"Reading Rainforest" Book Fair a huge success!
There were many successes this year;
Geronimo Stilton visited the Book Fair on Wednesday! Students were thrilled to meet the editor of the Rodent Gazette.
He even had time for autographs.
Student helpers - Once again, students in grades 5-8 helped our younger students visit the Book Fair and create "Wish Lists."
Classroom Wish List - Over 60 books were purchased on behalf of families as donations to classroom Libraries.
Teachers were thrilled to receive the "Gift of Reading". Thank you!
Congratulations to our Winners for events held during the Book Fair!
Denzel won our Family Draw
Garrett won for the closest guess for the number of fruit in the jar.
MYRCA
Grade 5-8 students have begun reading the 2008 MYRCA books! The books are flying off the shelves and our in huge demand.
Students are reminded that the books are also available from any public Library.
Students are responding to the books they are reading using our MYRCA Blog. This blog is a private blog for students in 5 Pembina Trails Schools.
The purpose is to promote critical thinking about reading.
Circle of Love Reading Event
We will once again be hosting a Circle of Love Reading Event.
"A Circle of Love is a gathering of parents and guardians, teachers, seniors/grandparents and other friends for the community who come together to read with young children to help them develop a love of books and reading. It is an excellent example of what schools and communities can accomplish when they work together to help children learn."
Our first Reading Event of 2007-2008 will take place on; Wednesday, November 28th with Grade 2 Mme Kovach from 9:30-10:30 am in the Library.
