1. Countdown to Convention.
In less than six weeks, Lutherans from across the ELCIC will meet in Vancouver for the 12th Biennial National Convention taking place June 25-28. As we count down the weeks to convention we will highlight what’s new, what to watch for, how to keep informed and news to know in the weekly newsletter Countdown to Convention.
2. Signs of Hope throughout the church.
When we gather together in Vancouver for the National Convention, we will be coming together around the theme, In Mission for Others: Signs of Hope. This is the third convention with the In Mission for Others theme and our church is really starting to live out our call to be outward-focused but what does the second part of our theme mean?
Based on the Biblical passages from Romans 15:13 and Matthew 5:14-16 our theme remind us to be Spirited Disciples which is just one of the five organizing pillars (or strategic directions) adopted by National Church Council as a way for us to live out our vision of being a church In Mission for Others.
3. How to stay informed.
In addition to the weekly newsletter that will count us down to the start of convention, there are many other ways you can keep in informed with all things convention related.
4. Not registered?
Not registered to attend National Convention as a delegate and feel like you’re missing out? You can still attend convention as a visitor! Hear inspiring messages from special guests, participate in daily Bible study sessions, be uplifted by daily Eucharist and worship services, bring information and new ideas back to your local congregation and participate in the wider church! Details for visitors can be found at: http://elcic.ca/In-Convention/2009-Vancouver/Visitors.cfm
5. Spirited Disciples!
As we continue to Countdown to Convention and look forward to when we will gather together under the theme, In Mission for Others: Signs of Hope , members of the ELCIC are encouraged to reflect on the signs of hope they see in their everyday work and also on the signs of hope you are to others. Have a story about a Sign of Hope you'd like to share? Email your 200 word story to info@elcic.ca with My Signs of Hope in the subject line.
