1. Youth delegates to have full schedule at convention.

As if the role of being a delegate to National Convention wasn't busy enough, 12 individuals from across the church serving as Youth Delegates will have a number of additional responsibilities and meetings added to their schedules during the gathering. Youth delegates, who have full voice and vote at convention, will also assist in various worship services, debrief on business sessions and matters before convention with one another and with their co-facilitators, as well as have an opportunity to meet as a group with the National Bishop and several special guests at convention. To be eligible to serve convention in this capacity, youth must be between the ages of 16 and 23. There are four youth from the Eastern Synod and two youth each from the Synods of British Columbia, Alberta and the Territories, Saskatchewan and Manitoba/Northwestern Ontario.

2. Service of Blessing for Convention Delegates available online.

In the weeks leading up to our National Convention, congregations are reminded that a Service of Blessing for Delegates of National Convention has been prepared for use. Lifting up the call of the delegate to serve the whole church and blessing their preparations, travel and work, the service is meant for use in the Sunday prior to Convention. The text for the service can be found in the Delegate Information Package on page 14.

4. Prayers for Convention.

With just two weeks before the start of convention, we ask for your prayers for delegates, visitors, staff and all who are planning to attend the 2009 ELCIC National Convention.

O God of hope, as we journey to the National Convention of this church, your church, fill us with joy and peace in believing, so that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. United in one body and one Spirit, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, may we be signs of hope, in mission for others in this world which you love so much, through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord.

Amen.
