Alumni Profile - Kelly McGonigal

2007 RRC Business Administration Grad

When Kelly graduated from high school, he decided that he needed a break from studying and headed west to work on the pipeline during summer and snowboard in the winter. After two years of living out west, Kelly was ready to resume his studies and enrolled in the Business Administration program at RRC.

Kelly felt that the Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, structure of the Business Administration program was a great way to learn the skills needed to pursue his career as well as experience the lifestyle of a working individual’s week. Before entering the program, Kelly had very little knowledge and experience in sales or marketing, but with programs like Entrepreneurship and Marketing, his eyes were opened to what was available in the real world and discovered that he wanted a career working with people.

After graduation, Kelly was excited to search for his dream job. There were a lot of opportunities from contacts he made while attending RRC and he felt confident with his skills as he started his job search. It didn't take long before Kelly found a great opportunity to be a Financial Advisor with Investors Group. Although it’s early in his career, Kelly knows that this is the perfect fit for him and that it will be as great of a job as he wants to make it.

"It’s gratifying to know that you are helping people understand their entire financial picture, such as helping them save money for their children’s education, protecting their family in case the unthinkable should happen, saving for retirement and numerous other important financial decisions."

Outside of work, Kelly is involved in numerous community and charitable events as well as various team sport activities. For the past two years, he has been assistant coach of the St. John's Ravenscourt Eagles Bantam hockey team.

Kelly still comes back to the College several times a year for alumni events and to recruit new RRC graduates at the annual career fair to join the Investors Group team.
