Editor's Note:
We were so lucky on the birthday weekend!  We had  the best weather for the 3 days that we could possibly hope for.  Clear blue skies worked well for the parade, beach activities, and for the first time since I've been here, helicopter rides from Provincial Helicopters in Lac du Bonnet  (see pictures in the Pinawa Photo Page July 2009) and the fireworks went off beautifully.  In fact we probably had record crowds for them.  Of course the next day and the following week we had torrential downpours.

We start off with this month's news from an organization that would like all Manitobans' help for A Port In The Storm House Campaign.  We'll be hearing more from them in a meeting that is scheduled in early October.  Another group that will be attending the meeting is AgeFriendly Pinawa.  Marsha has an update and introduces the new logo in this newsletter. The next group that will be attending the public meeting is the Pinawa Community Foundation Committee.  In this month's newsletter Chris Saunders has done a wonderful article to emphasis why we as a community and individually should be a part of forming and supporting our foundation.

Goose Gossip (Morgan Hallett) shares a few words of wisdom about sharing; sharing what you might add; well the hint here is to read the Government News Release and look at some of our nature photos and you will soon know!  We are famous for this type of sharing!  Speaking of sharing Stan is back as he shares with us some expert fishing tips and the answers to his crossword puzzle.

Over to the youth in Pinawa and Lac du Bonnet where we can read about the Manitoba Science Academy's open house and the very interesting projects the students are working on.  The Job Centre manager shares his news as they keep busy providing job experiences for the younger generation.  Are you thinking about school and courses yet?  Winnipeg Learning Centre has information on the fall courses so don't forget to check that page out.  CF Winnipeg River also shares with us free business video conferencing programs for the month of August.

Linda Huisman is back with a story about monsters in the deep, the answers to last month's Peculiar Plants and shares with us some lovely treasures she found in the local ditches.  All you budding plant buffs will like this page of photos.  Her photos are featured throughout the newsletter as well.

Nancy's Notes brings you the latest on the Pinawa Birthday, what's new with Pinawa CDC, the latest trail maintenance update, how to grow frogs, and how to appreciate your roses even in winter.  Don't forget to check out the Pinawa Photo Page where you will find nature shots as well as photos from the Art Show, Helicopter Rides, Town Market, and of course the big parade!

North East Health Association shares information on a condition that can affect people in at least 100 ways.  Peter Taylor (Treading With Taylor) once again lightens my day with his breathtaking nature photos.  And finally our local Librarian Marg Stokes shares with us the winners of the Birthday Draw.

Here's wishing you a great long weekend on August 3rd.
Less rain for us Manitobans with more sun!
