Christmas Town Market Pinawa Style

I Can't Believe I Got All My Christmas Shopping Done...

by Nancy Bremner CDO Pinawa CDC

The third annual town market on December 1, 2007 was another immense success for both vendors and shoppers with approximately 525 people browsing at the vendors' tables.  Many people, while browsing by our booth, said how impressed they were with the wares available and they had actually finished their Christmas shopping at the market.

The food court operated by Lynda's Café filled the air with the tempting aroma of the very popular home-made beef with wild rice soup while her chicken caesar wraps 'flew" off the shelves.

Vendors from Winnipeg and the surrounding area, who were first time attendees at the market, enjoyed the assistance provided by a team of 2008 Grads who were raising money for their grad celebrations.  The market also provided an outlet for Pinawa's young entrepreneurs. Anna, (pictured above) has attended a few of the markets with her creative jewellery.

Representatives from 105.1 FM Northeast Radio surprised everyone with the idea of a local radio station.

The crowd of shoppers were treated to a variety of the best oldies from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s while taking a break in the food court.  Meanwhile inside the main area Shannon Shewchuk and daughter Tegan treated people to traditional Christmas music.

Young and old alike took the opportunity to visit, shop, and enjoy all the different displays.  There were many draws to be entered such as the Library's.  These 3 lucky ladies won a basket each: Wilma Elliott, Shelagh Lyons and Sharon Brehm (more details in The Biblio File). The Pinawa Lions 50/50 draw netted their lucky winner $92.00.
