Rec RapSkate With Santa, WRRD New Winter Programs...by Sharalyn Reitlo, Winnipeg River Recreation Director
Published December 03, 2007 SKATE WITH SANTA! It's not everyday you get to see Santa on skates, never mind skate with him! Santa invites children of all ages (that includes you too parents and grandparents) to join him for public skating at the Orville Acres Arena in Pinawa on Friday, December 14 th from 7:00-8:45 p.m. For this special night, there will be no fee for public skating. The concession will be providing free hot chocolate and Santa will have a goodie bag for each child. For more information call the Rec office at 753-2639 or 345-8816.
PLAYGROUP AT MRS. LUCCI'S Parents with babies, toddlers, and/or preschoolers are encouraged to join the fun at Playgroup at Mrs. Lucci's. This program takes place every Tuesday morning from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. Snack, juice and coffee are provided. Children will enjoy stories, songs, and crafts. Take advantage of this social opportunity for both children and parents. There is no cost to take part, but a suggested donation of $1/child is welcome. RECREATION OFFICE NEWS The Recreation Offices in LdB and Pinawa will be closed from December 24th to January 1st for the Christmas holidays. Effective January 1st , the LdB Recreation Office will be located in the Community Centre. We will be turning the existing coatroom into the new WRRD office so stop in to see us in our new location to register for your programs. As another option for convenience, you can also drop off your registration form and payment at the Town Office. WINTER PROGRAMS AND EVENTS The winter brochure is out! Look for the blue brochure at businesses around town or pick up a copy at the Recreation Office. Most programs begin the second week of January, but a few start earlier. Be sure to register soon to get the classes you want. Along with our wide variety of fitness classes, we are also hosting a traditional painting class in LdB on Saturday, January 26th and a volunteer recruitment seminar in LdB on January 28th; a Kids Games Day in LdB on Friday, February 1st; an Irish cooking class in Pinawa on Saturday, March 15th; and Jam Can Curling in Pinawa on March 31st . The winter brochure also features a listing of upcoming community events. We plan to keep this as a permanent feature so if you have an event you want some extra FREE promotion, please let us know about your event.
