HAPPY NEW YEAR

On behalf of the Winnipeg River Recreation District board – Paul Chapman, Lynn Patterson, Cheryl Bruce, Bob Bruneau, Nancy Bremner, Chuck Reynolds, Tom Hilliard and Michele Stefaniuk, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year.

We have some excellent programs starting the 2nd week of January that can help achieve your New Year's resolution of getting more active. Contact Kim or myself at the Recreation office to get In Motion in 2006!

SPOTLIGHT ON DANCE

Join instructor Tanya of X Company for our Tuesday program this Winter 2006.

    Introductory to Dance is a fun, exciting program where students will be able to put together their experience from creative movement and global beatz into action in this next level of dancing for children ages 6-8 years of age.

    Creative Movement is for the younger folk, ages 3-5 years where movement exploration incorporates basic dance movements. And all that Jazz… is an energetic and expressive way to dance incorporating hip-hop dance and traditional jazz moves.  

COLD SNAP ATTACK

Registrations are now being accepted for the following programs.

    Classes starting the week of January 9th ; Aqua Fitness, Karate, Cardio Kickboxing, Body Sculpting, Cardio Sculpt, Yoga and Stress stretch ball.

    Classes starting the week of January 16th ; Xtalent, Pilates, Creative Movement, Introductory to Dance, Jr. Jazz and Sr. Jazz.

COOKING IT UP THIS MARCH

I Can't Believe it's Vegan cooking class on Wednesday, March 15th from 6-9 pm at Pinawa Secondary School Home Ec Room and Venturesome Vegetarian Cooking on Wednesday, March 22nd from 6-9 pm in LdB at Mrs. Lucci's Café.

GET POWER SMART AND POWER UP AT THE EASTMAN REGIONAL GAMES

Our communities of LdB and Pinawa are hosting the Eastman Regional Games for 4 sports involved in the Manitoba Winter Games. Our big weekend is January 27-29th.

  Kicking it off on the Friday Night at the LdB Sports Arena is the Male Pee Wee Hockey. We have a full draw with 8 teams participating.

  The Saturday will see Female Hockey at Orville Acres Arena in Pinawa and Five Pin Bowling at the LdB Bowling Lanes.

  Sunday, January 29th the Cross Country Ski event will take place starting from the Pinawa Club. Sign up as a participant, volunteer OR be a spectator!

  Don't miss out on a chance to participate in Manitoba's Largest Ongoing Multi-Sport Event that is taking place from March 6-12th, 2006 in Beausejour, Manitoba. 2006 WHITESHELL SKI FEST

This year with mark the 30th anniversary of the Manitoba Loppet. This year's loppet on Sunday, January 29th will also double as the Eastman Winter Games Cross Country Ski Qualifier. Race day registration will be accepted from 9 am -10 am at the Pinawa Club. The Whiteshell Cross Country Ski Club is planning an action packed weekend of fun to commemorate this milestone. On Saturday, January 28th there will be Ski Clinics, Guided Ski Tours, Atom and Pee Wee Ski Races (contact Susan Barnett at 753-8239) and a Banquet to finish off the day. For more info contact the Whiteshell Cross Country Ski Club at 753-8844 or email ccskipinawa@mts.net.

SR. JAZZ DANCE

It is not to late to join the Jazz dance class starting on Monday January 23. You don't need any dance experience to participate in this class. Call to register!

 

HALL WALKING

Hall Walking at the Lac du Bonnet Community Club, Tuesdays and Thursdays 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. must wear indoor shoes and only rubber wheeled walkers allowed. Everyone welcome! Please call Pat at Two Rivers to sign up 345-1227.

NOMINATE YOUR VOLUNTEER

Eastman Sport is accepting nominations for Volunteer of the Year and Youth Volunteer of the Year. Deadline is January 31/06. If you have a great sport coach, assistant coach, manager or sport leader, complete the form and have them acknowledged. Nomination forms available at the Rec. Office or by contacting Sport Manitoba Eastman Region at 268-2172.
