  Computer Lending Library 

New for 2006!  The Selkirk & District Community Learning Centre is launching a Computer Lending Library!

Mission Statement

The SDCLC sponsored Computer Lending Program is designed to encourage the use of computers by making them accessible to those who are unable to otherwise acquire them; thereby increasing their quality of life, literacy, fluency and enhancing the specialty skills that have become a requirement for more employment opportunities - even in entry-level positions.

The Computer Lending Library operates as a membership based organization and computers are loaned to members for up to two years. If you are interested in the Computer Lending Library

Groundhog Day

Manitobans can look forward to an early spring this year, if the prognostications of the province's most famous groundhog come to pass.

Manitoba Merv made his annual appearance at Oak Hammock Marsh, north of Winnipeg, promptly at sunrise Thursday morning.

Selkirk & District Community Learning Centre:  If the weather conditions are not suited to travel, please check with the SDCLC at 482-2111 to confirm that we are open.  There will be a recorded message to advise you if the Centre is closed and all classes and programming are cancelled.

Job Quest is on a quest for its own unique logo.  Do you have graphic artist abilities, a penchant for capturing the visual essence of what a targeted job search entails?

Video Conferencing

The Selkirk & District Community Learning Centre have received 3 sets of Video and Audio Conferencing Equipment.  A BIG Thank You, goes to the eAssociation for providing 3 complete sets of equipment for Video Conferencing, and also to MRnet for the CANARIE connection to allow our Centre to connect with any University in Canada.

CAP Computers

Free Access to Computers

The Selkirk & District Learning Centre has 6 computers that can be used to access the internet, check emails, type out a word document, or job search.  All 6 computers have Microsoft Office '97. 

Hours of operation is Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Drop in to the Selkirk Learning Centre, 511 Robinson Ave., to get on a computer and cruise the information highway!




Recycle your empty printer cartridges to help us earn money! 

The Selkirk & District Community Learning Centre have enrolled in a wonderful new fundraising program called InkBank Cartridge Recycling.  This program offers us an almost effortless way to raise money to support our projects - and to protect our planet.  We earn money simply by recycling used printer, fax and copier cartridges that were destined for the trash.

Here's How You Can Help:

  • Save your eligible cartridges you use at home, workplace or business.
  • Ask friends, family, employers to help support our fundraising efforts.
  • Collect only eligible cartridges (All Epson cartridges are not eligible).
  • Drop off the empty cartridges to the Selkirk Learning Centre or call to arrange for pick up (204) 482-2111.
  • NOTE:  Previously recycled or remanufactured cartridges cannot be accepted.
