Administration Message

sleeping beauty's castle

Allow yourself to be captured by a tale of love involving a king and queen in search of a suitable princess for their bachelor prince!  You will surely enjoy a delightful evening when you attend the school musical on May 27.  Amanda (the queen) told us that her favourite part of being involved is “performing” and Harrison (the king) promises that “it will be entertaining!”

After 8 months of planning, preparation and fundraising, our Space Camp students are taking flight!  Bon Voyage Space Camp students!  We are confident that their time in Quebec will provide a lifetime of wonderful memories.

You will see that this month's calendar is full of various extra-curricular opportunities for all students. We would like to take this moment to thank the staff volunteers who make these activities possible.  Van Walleghem students will surely look back on their school days and remember their extra curricular activities with fondness.

This month, the board of the Pembina Trails School Division will be recognizing Madeleine Perreaux for 25 years of service with the division.  As you may know, Mme Perreaux will be retiring this year.  She has made a true impact on the school community and her students.  Please join us in congratulating her and wishing her the very best in retirement!

Scholastic Challenge

Several weeks ago, 26 of our Gr. 8 students participated in an entertaining and challenging enrichment activity that allowed them to demonstrate a variety of problem solving skills and knowledge in all academic areas.  These students were given 100 questions to answer online within an hour time frame.  We have recently received the results.

The national average for this activity was 49, with the highest score of 87.  Nineteen of our VW students scored above the national average and our school average was 56.

Congratulations to all who participated!
