Mr. Burns and Ms Ragoonanan prepare for a safe school year.  The signs shown are used along Princemere Road.  Extra staff will be on hand September 5 to ensure 525 students and their supplies safely transition.

Traffic Congestion and Student Safety

The first day of school, September 5, is fast approaching! We recognize that the first day is a special one when students bring more supplies than usual. Therefore, we have arranged to have helpers in the loop to carry your child's supplies should he or she need assistance. We trust that this will alleviate any worries you may have about your child getting to class with ease.

Should you wish to park and assist your child yourself, please remember that there is no visitor parking available in our parking lot as all spaces are used by staff. Also, parking is not permitted on Princemere as this would put our students who walk to school at risk. The only parking is on the service loops of Lindenwood Drive W. and along Wallingford Crescent . We apologize for this inconvenience. However, the parking situation is our reality and we ask that you respect these restrictions. (Parking is always available for visitors in the loop from 9:15-3:00).

Students are encouraged to walk or ride a bike to school as this is a great way to stay fit. In the event that you drive your child to school, car pooling to reduce traffic is appreciated. Following this letter, please find some important information about our loop.

When dropping off students please use the DRIVE-THRU DROP-OFF LOOP

Between the hours of 8:40-9:10, the school's drive-thru driveway is a drive-thru drop-off loop .

Advantages of the drop-off loop:

  • Students are dropped off at the safest location possible which is the sidewalk adjacent to the school.
  • An adult is on duty to greet your child and supervise their transition into the school, eliminating the need to get out of your car. This allows for efficient and safe student drop-off.

Can I park in the loop? ? No , parking in the loop prevents the loop from being used safely and reduces the number of cars that can use the loop.

Can I drop-off my child anywhere in the loop? No , please pull into the loop as far as possible before dropping off your child. This allows the maximum number of vehicles access to the curb adjacent to the school which is the safest place to drop-off your child.

Should students exit from the passenger side of the car only? Yes , the safest place for your child to exit your vehicle is the passenger side . The loop is wide enough for cars to pass each other creating a dangerous situation for pedestrians in the loop. (Drivers are advised not to pass vehicles. If we all drop-off in an efficient manner there should never be a reason to pass someone in the loop.)

Can I use the loop for pick-up at the end of the day? From 3:20-3:45 the school buses sit in the loop while loading. The loading process takes significantly longer and is safest in the loop. Pick-ups are best arranged for after 3:45 or at a location close to the school (e.g. Wallingford , Queen's Park or the service road on Lindenwood Drive W )

Is there a better direction to approach the loop? Yes , please approach the school from the West. This way you will have the right-of-way as you enter the loop. If you approach from the East you will be required to wait at the stop sign for a break in the line of cars that is going through the loop.

Where does the school bus drop-off the students? The bus stops on Queen's Park where there is minimal traffic, a paved path to the school, and direct access to the school playground. There is an adult supervisor on duty to meet the students and supervise them as they exit the bus and make their way to the school.

What if I want to walk my child into school? Unfortunately, parking is very limited in the vicinity of the school. There is no visitor parking available in our parking lot as all spaces are used by staff. There is no parking permitted on Princemere, which if allowed would put our students who walk to school at risk. The only parking is on the service loops of Lindenwood Drive W. and along Wallingford Crescent . We recognize that this is terribly inconvenient; however, it is our reality and would ask that you respect these parking restrictions.

For our volunteers limited parking is available in the loop between 9:15 and 3:15. (Please remember to stop by the office to pick-up your volunteer lanyard and to leave your license plate number with the office.)
